Subject: Relate - Does it Work Posted: Wednesday, December 4, 2013 - 10:23:54
As my wife (just) and I are tying to sort out all her affair and my problems, we are in the stage where were end up arguing all the time about \'he said she said\'. She has suggested, after talking to some of our close friends, about going to relate to get some pro help.
What I\'d like to know, is does this work? Anyone got any experience from this? How do you get through all this upset, when I\'d imagine that Relate is just going to bring up all the old resentments again....
Any info would be really appreciated.

If both parties are sincere about making the marriage work, then Relate is brilliant and a life saver.
They will look at an issue, get one of you to explain why it is an issue, and probably discover that the other party didn\'t appreciate their view, hadn\'t realised that they dealt with it the wrong way etc. and things can be resolved sensibly.
If one of the parties is just going through it unwillingly it will be a waste of time.

My wife has said that she wants to go along, so that we can talk about issues within our failing marraige, but I\'m not sure if she really wants to be married to me still. I\'m hoping that by talking through the issues I have, and I haven\'t been very nice to her on occasions, it might help us.
